Tragic news in the first edition of the Ironman 70.3 Marbella, where last Sunday a British athlete was rescued from the swimming sector and died Monday at the Costa del So hospital, according to EFE news agency

The swimming sector of 1,9 km of route was cut in 400 meters due to the bad conditions of the sea.

The triatelle was rescued in cardiorespiratory arrest, where the emergency services were able to resuscitate her to be transferred to the hospital where she has remained in a state of brain death until her death on Monday.

The test consisted of 1.900 swimming in a single lap in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea starting and finishing at Levante Beach in Puerto Banús. Subsequently, the cycling segment was also one lap, 90 kilometers, which started on the well-known "Golden Mile" and after crossing Marbella it ran through the Port of Ojén and the towns of Monda, Coín and Cartama before returning to the transition zone. in Puerto Banus. Finally, the foot race consisted of two 10,5 km laps until completing the 21 km along the Marbella promenade with the finish line located on the sand of Puerto Banús Beach itself.

The winner was the compatriot of the deceased, David MacNamee, and the first woman to arrive was the German, Laura Philipp.
