This weekend kicks off the American Ironman testing season, with the Ironman 70.3 Oceanside celebration in California and the Ironman 70.3 in Texas.

Several of the best medium and long distance triathletes in the world start their 2018 season this weekend, coinciding with the first tests of the year on American soil. On Saturday 7 will be held on Ironman 70.3 Oceanside in California, with stellar "duel" Jan Frodeno (double world champion Ironman and Olympic champion in 2008) and Lionel Sanders (current World Champion Challenge and ITU LD). The test also presents other big names, such as Tim Reed (IM 70.3 world champion in 2016) and David McNamee (3º in Hawaii IM last year)

In the female category there will also be a great level in the starting list. It stands out above all the British Holly Lawrence (IM 70.3 world champion in 2016), Jeanni Seymour (winner of IM 70.3 South Africa in the month of January), Anne Haug (current champion IM 70.3 of Lanzarote), Heather Jackson (4ª in Hawaii IM last season) and Sara True (3 times ITU world medalist)

Sunday will be the turn of the Texas Ironman 70.3 with the presence of the Valencian Emilio Aguayo, who will be re-measured with great world-class triathletes as in the past IM 70.3 in Dubai and will seek to add the maximum possible points for the South African IM 70.3 World Championship, one of its objectives of the season. Sebastian Kienle (IM 2014 world champion and IM 70.3 double world champion) is the big favorite to win a test where he also highlights the presence of Ben Kanute (current IM 70.3 world sub-champion) who stood up to Javier Gómez Noya in the past world of IM 70.3 held in Chattanooga and of Andrew Starykowicz who together with Kienle can break the barrier of two hours in the 90km of cycling and break the record of the sector.

In the female category, the presence of Mirinda Carfrae (Triple Ironman World Champion) as a big favorite, and next to her too Kimberley Morrison, Melissa Hauschild y Heather Wurtele.
