HED, the bet of Iván Raña, Eneko Llanos and Saleta for Ironman Kona

From Triathlon News we launched a special material with a selection of the TOP 5 of the brands that most bet on our international Elite.

HED Of course it is one of the international reference brands for the Long Distance, but it is that three of the four elites that will represent Spain will compete with these wheels.

But you want to know the exact model, covers, pressure and specifications for which they have bet Iván Raña, Eneko Llanos and Saleta Castro? We tell you!

Both Ivan and Saleta for Kona have opted for the model by Hed Jet Plus of cover in its different versions Standard and Black Series. These are deck wheels with rings Plus (25mm wide) which not only offer excellent aerodynamic performance but also an excellent "rolling resistance" and excellent ride comfort for the 180km of the test.

Wheels Hed Ivan Raña and Saleta Castro

Saleta and Ivan will mount covers 23 mm that once mounted and swollen in this type of tires (wider) go to measure 25 mm with which the set of cover and rim will have the optimum aerodynamics to be of the same size and the coefficient of friction or "rolling resistance" improved when wearing wide tires. This type of hoops plus to contain a volume of air superior to the one of the conventional rims also allows them to go to a lower pressure (6 bar).

With all this the cover / rim assembly of the Jet Plus gives them the best aerodynamics, the tire measures 23mm (25mm once mounted) a better coefficient of friction saving watts and with a pressure of 6 bar an ideal ride comfort so that the impacts of the road do not wear them down and a better tire grip on the asphalt.

Eneko has chosen to ride some tubeless covers  this year in their Jet Plus Black Series, which has already thoroughly tested the last months, since our Plus rings now allow the use of both camera / cover and tubeless.

About the Profiles Saleta and Iván they go with the option Jet Plus 60mm front + Jet Plus 90mm rear (Ivan carries a Powertap bushing in this one) and Eneko normally he will use the Jet Plus 90mm front + Jet Plus 90mm rear. Only if there is a lot of wind expected Eneko would opt for the Jet Plus 60 front.

As a detail, internationally HED also has the super champion Daniela Ryf that, as in recent years, will use the same deck wheels as our Spaniards and specifically in his case the Jet Plus 45mm or 60mm front + Jet Plus 90mm back to defend his title in Kona.
