Guillermo Lladó and Jordi Matos, record men in Kona'15

In this edition of the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii, 2 will record the participation records in GGEE.

Today Guillermo Lladó y Jaime Menéndez They are the only ones who has been Finishers 4 times in "Mecca". The next October 10 Guillermo will seek to be the Spanish with more races played in Hawaii and be finisher for 5ª time. We must also highlight Jordi Reig (3 times finisher, who will try to be 4ª).

On the other hand Jordi Matos will try to achieve another feat, be the first Spanish finisher 3 times in a row in Hawaii, achievement difficult to achieve, first (like all GGEE) because of the complexity of qualifying, and second because of the complexity of putting together a trip of such caliber ... 3 years in a row

Guillermo resides in Barcelona and is the Argon18 director in Spain. For his part, Jordi lives in Esplugues del Llobregat and works as a firefighter. Below we show you a small interview we have done to both of them because of their participation in Kona, where they tell us a little about how they qualified, some anecdotes, advice and thanks.

TN -Good morning Guillermo and Jordi, firstly congratulate you for your sports career, being both of the best GGEE in Spain and thank you for sharing this little bit with the readers of Triathlon News. To start I wanted to ask you in which IM you classified for Kona

Guillermo Llado, Ironman Hawaii

William: I achieved the slot in the Zurich IM.
Jordi: In my case, I qualified in the IM of Lanzarote, hard race this year because of the wind ... good test for Kona, haha.

TN- What can you highlight about your previous participation in Hawaii?

William: In the first edition, the first thing you think is "Finally, I have fulfilled a dream" This year I'm also looking forward to being the first Spanish 5 times finisher. The truth is that I have beautiful memories of all the shares ... and the bad guys have forgotten me, haha.

Jordi: The first one is always special, it was amazing and it was great for me as the first Spanish of GGEE. It was all new, what you had always dreamed you were living live. The worst was the second. I did a corner training on the same day I landed. I was worried all week and I did not focus on enjoying. In the race I was more for the rivals than for me, it was one of my biggest mistakes. I did not enjoy it as it deserved the occasion ... so I hope this year to get rid of that thorn.

TN - What advice can you give to the Spaniards who make their debut in Hawaii this year?

William: Above all, keep in mind that it is one of the most difficult races in the world, due to the wind, heat and humidity. But also by the continuous unevenness. And the Spaniards get us very late in the season ... That in the videos we see how the first ones go, and it seems easy ... :-) And that they never lose the basic objective that is to have fun.

Jordi: That they take advantage of it to the maximum, that they enjoy it, not only the day of the race but all the minutes that are there, in the end it is what remains. The secret for me is to be happy.

Jordi Matos, Ironman Hawaii

In the training topic, I recommend preparing the test in the most similar conditions, heat and humidity.

TN - Finally, do you have any special thanks?

William: To Monica, my wife, for helping me and accompanying me throughout the world of the tri, be it in the town next door or in the other part of the world. And to my training group, without them, who help me prepare the IM, everything would be much more difficult: Toni, Oriol, Viñolas, ...

Jordi: To my family, especially to my wife, if she would not have been possible, she is always at the bottom of the canyon. Not like all the sponsors that have helped me during this journey, to those who are already there. To my coach Iván Herruzo, to the first person who bet on my Guillermo Llado and all my travel companions (we have a group that we are the bomb :))

TN - Thank you very much guys for the interview, from Triathlon News we wish you the best in Hawaii and that both of you can get your respective records

William: Mahalo
Jordi: Thanks to you and greetings.
