Also, the American Jesse Thomas and the British Stephen Bayliss y David McNamee -third in the last World Cup- arrive at a good moment after winning the Wildflower Long Course Triathlon and the IRONMAN UK, respectively.

For their part, the German Diana Riesler, current winner of Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, Tine Holst y Nicole Woysch, the British Caroline Livesey y Lucy Charles, the American Alyssa Godesky, the Danish Anne Jensen, the French Jeanne Collonge, the Belgian Alexandra Tondeur y Saleta Castro, third in the 2013 edition, lead a plethora of stars in the female box.

Frodeno is "excited" to take part in an event "underlined in the calendar" in his "great challenge" to repeat the world's twist.

"At the moment, I can not guarantee that I will win after overcoming an injury, but if I win, it will be a great celebration. This year has been very intense, with many commitments after winning the world title ... My son Luca was born and I was injured, so I do not know how I will be on Saturday. I usually suffer a bit more in cold water with the injury I have had and I do not know if it will affect me in swimming, "the German says.

His compatriot Bracht stresses that the Lanzarote race is "very demanding for the elements and conditions, although, above all, one is alone in this and it is a challenge".

"My goal is to finish in the Top-3. I would like to win because it would be my tenth victory in an IRONMAN, something that no German has achieved, but the competition is high, since it has a similar to a world championship. I hope to be very regular to be able to attack in the last ten kilometers, taking energy in the final straight, "he says.

Also, Galician Raña, who needs to finish in the top four to qualify for Kona, says he is "ready" for his first participation and that "winning it would be one of the best moments of my life."

"I have a lot of respect for the route, especially the bicycle segment, with its climbs, which is my strong point and it favors me, and a very technical part," he says.

Raña believes that, to win in Lanzarote, he must be "very strong" and have a "very complete" race.

“There are big names in this edition, like Frodeno and Bracht, for example, who are IRONMAN champions. We will have to be very close to Frodeno in the swimming and cycling segments, where he is very good on flat terrain, but I think I am better on the climbs. For his part, Bracht is very clever and technical, and he knows the Island perfectly. He is a very fast triathlete in the marathon part ”, he argued.

Raña remembers that the marathon is her forte, but she believes that she will need to keep "enough energy" for the running race, "without going to try to accompany Frodeno either, so I will have to control myself a lot".

Finally, Raña, who makes 20 years who visited the Club La Santa for the first time, says that Lanzarote is "the ideal place to train in the European winter, because the weather is optimal and the wind helps strengthen you."

In the women's box, Riesler admits that she faced "with fear" the last edition that she conquered due to the "hardness" of the test.

"As the kilometers passed, I took my nerves away and started to enjoy, being able to get an advantage of 20 minutes over the second classified after the bike segment. This year there is a lot of level, but I know what awaits me and, without a doubt, I will be ready ", concludes the German athlete.

For his part, Saleta Castro, who retired in the 15 kilometer in the past IRONMAN of Texas, needs to be on the podium in Lanzarote to achieve qualification for Hawaii.

"I only need a podium in Lanzarote, but I prefer to focus on my IRONMAN, where I made my debut and I know it will be my tenth, of which five on the Island. I just want to enjoy it and get the most out of myself. because I have trained a lot all these months. I think that, at some point, the result has to come out and I hope it will be in a special edition because it is the 25 anniversary, "he says.

The Galician triathlete is aware that she has "another opportunity" in Lanzarote and intends to "enjoy the people and all the friends who will be supporting me".

"I decided to stop in Texas because the goal was very clear in that race when I needed a Top-7 to be in Hawaii. Now, analyzing it in cold, if I had continued running, I could have achieved it, but during the race I thought I could not do it and that in Lanzarote I would have another chance, "he recalls.

Looking ahead to this Saturday, Castro hopes "it will be very windy and, please, do not rain. And make it very hot in the marathon. "

"For the rest, I know that I'm going to run at home and that I know the route with my eyes closed. I am in a very good state, but somewhat tired from the trip from the United States. The work is there and I hope it comes out, "he says.

In the last edition of 2015, the Italian Alessandro Degasperi (08: 46: 59) and the German Diana Riesler (9: 56.03) imposed their law in a competition that grants 2.000 qualifying points for the world ranking and 40 places for the Championship of the World in Kona (Hawaii).

The professionals will struggle to register their name at the top of the 2016 edition of Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote and, of course, try to beat the record held by the German Timo Bracht, who made a time of 8 hours, 30 minutes and 34 seconds in 2011, and the Zimbabwean Paula Newby-Frazer, which signed a time of 9 hours, 24 minutes and 34 seconds in 1995.
