Mallorca ironman canceled

Ironman has announced that the Ironman test that was held on the island will no longer have continuity for the 2017.

In an official statement Ironman Europe praises the efforts made by the city, the government authorities as well as the fins, volunteers and all the personnel involved in the project. Ironman Mallorca that has been held during these 3 last years. In the statement they also confirm that the 70.3 test that is disputed in the Island will keep on doing it.

They do not comment on the cause of this decision and understand the disappointment suffered by some triathletes who had put their enthusiasm in this test. It is bad news for the Spanish triathlon, since the Ironman franchise stops organizing one of the most important long distance races that were held in our country.

DISCONTINUATION OF IRONMAN MALLORCA

After careful consideration, IRONMAN® Mallorca will not take place in 2017. We appreciate the efforts and support of the city, government officials, as well as our athletes, volunteers, partners, and everyone else involved in putting this triathlon over the past three years and look forward to their continued support for the future Nirvana IRONMAN® 70.3® Mallorca race that will continue as scheduled.
 
We appreciate our athletes dedication and understand the disappointment that some athletes will have for a full-distance race in this location in 2017.
