"I felt really good in the water, but when Bozzone overtook me on a bike and it was going away, I realized I was not going to have a good day"

The Galician Javier Gómez Noya yesterday closed the season in Ironman 70.3 from Bahrain where he got the fourth place, in the test that if he had won it, he would have obtained the title of the Triple Crown and his prize of 1 million dollars.

The last 2017 triathlon has not had the expected result by Javier Gómez Noya. He finished fourth in the Bahrain Middle Ironman, which did not achieve the challenge of the "triple crown" awarded a million US dollars, after having sold in Dubai in January and in the world championship of that average distance Ironman in September in the United States.

Everything had started very well leading in swimming alone, but in the flat course of 90km bike with a lot of wind did not have good feelings. It came to the second transition in third place at the same time as the fourth, to 7 minutes of Bozzone and to 4 of the surprising Norwegian Blummendfeldt. Too far away to be able to aspire to victory if those in front did not burst: "In the water I felt very good, but when Bozzone overtook me on a bike and it went away I realized that I was not going to have a good day "

In the third phase, unlike in other triathlons of this distance in which he has sentenced, he did not run at his usual level and even had flatus problems that led him to almost stop on time. For this reason, not only could he not overcome the time of the two heads but was also surpassed by the Swiss veteran (bronze medalist in Athens 2004) Sven Riederer. “Things don't always go the way you want. The season has been very good in general and it has been a shame not to take advantage of the opportunity to win the triple crown. Now I am going to take a few weeks off to recharge my batteries for the next season ”.

As for the head of the race, the Norwegian reached the New Zealander towards km 12, they ran together some 3km, until the young rookie in the distance Half Ironman left behind the winner in 2016 and stood in goal with almost a minute of advantage . Giving everything, since he fell exhausted to the ground after crossing the goals and had even to be helped several minutes later to get on and off the podium.

With this Noya test, the 2017 season ends with a view to its great goal of next year, the Ironman distance.

These have been his results this year with 5 victories where he has achieved the title of Ironman 70.3 World Champion and ITU World sub-championship
