In this article we show you some curiosities and anecdotes of the Ironman Hawaii 2017, as well as some wishes for 2018

Patrick Swaddle won with a time of 8: 01: 40, which is the best brand of all time in the Hawaii Ironman

With a time of 8:04:07 Lionel Sanders became the "second" fastest in history, only Lange himself and Craig Alexander (winner in 2011) have been faster for Sanders.

Y David McNamme third in goal with 8:07:11 the best "third" of always, they are the 7ª best mark in history.

The 2017 podium was the "most expensive" if we stick to the times achieved, with three of the best brands achieved in Kona.

Daniela Ryf equal to Mirinda Carfrae with 3 world titles, ahead await Chrissie Wellington (4) Natascha Badmann (6) and the unreachable Paula Newby-Fraser.

Ryf becomes the only triathlete to lose three consecutive years of 9h in Kona

Patrick Swaddle came back down from 2h40min in the marathon of Kona, the only one that has broken that barrier ... and twice. The German is confirmed as the best runner of the moment ... waiting for Noya and Alistair to jump into the distance.

Cameron Wulf marked a new record in the cycling sector with 4:12:54

record Ironman Hawaii cycling sector

Swimming was one of the fastest in history, in the female category for the first time there was 2 sub 49 ', Lauren Brandon 48: 53 and Lucy Charles 48:48, which was 5” away from breaking the industry record. In men, Josh Amberger stopped the clock in 47:09 staying a few seconds from downloading 47 'something that only two triathletes have achieved: Lars Jorgensen in 1998 and 1995 and Jan Sibbersen in 2003.

Rob Barel (four times elite European champion in the 80 years) he beat the 60-64 age group with impressive authority, taking more than 50 'to the second place.

Repeating title in Kona is very very difficult, counting the categories PRO, GGEE and Paratriathlon there are 28 possibilities to be world champion in Kona and only 2 triathletes have managed to repeat at the top of the podium the win achieved in 2016, were the Swiss Daniela Ryf in the PRO category and the Venezuelan Fidel Rotondaro in 75-79. Rotondaro He was the longest-running 2017 world champion of men and women.

The relatives and friends of Veronica Aveni-Avene y Alba Reguillo (both GGEE) created a WhatsApp group to follow their career with the videos and information that their partners were sending from Hawaii. Veronica is Argentine by birth, so the group was joined by people from Spain and Argentina who received information coming from Kona. It was very emotional and exciting to follow both.

Save Alarcon (triathlete of GGEE) had a different preparation that did not stop him from performing in the best way. Salva had lived in Singapore for several years where he worked as an industrial engineer but a few months ago he moved to Malaysia. His preparation for Hawaii was a bit different due to the changes of moving, trips, etc ... having to alter workouts but this did not deprive him of surrendering to 100% and completing a great race in Kona fulfilling his objectives.

Finally we close this article with some wishes for 2018, the first and most important is that Carlos López He recovers well from the outrage that prevented him from being in Hawaii and can return to the competition next year.

We also await the arrival of Javier Gómez Noya Kona, who is practically classified, only needs to finish an Ironman for it. As well Ivan Raña has a foot and a half in Kona18 thanks to the 11ª square this year.

We wish the best to Eneko, clement, Miquel, Victor... and the rest of PROs Spaniards who will surely fight next year to be in Kona. Also to Guru y Saleta who we hope to see you in Hawaii next October ... along with some other Spanish PRO. And like us, I hope the GGEE continue to break records in both categories.

Spain carries 3 consecutive years exceeding and in 2018 it will do it again.
