Miquel Blanchart: Ironman Barcelona and Cozumel first goals heading to Kona 2017.

Miquel already has his qualification for the 2017 World Championship.

A few days ago we talked with Víctor de Corral of the hardness of the KPR classification system, and in your case, in this 2016 you have also been affected by how difficult it is to be in Kona despite getting good results. Last year you scored in Hawaii and this 2016 has been top 6 in Lanzarote and Nice, even so you have not been able to achieve the slot. Could you give us a summary of your competitions in LZ and Nice?

The truth is that this year I have competed at a good level. However, the results (in terms of the position obtained) have not been as expected and necessary to achieve the classification for Hawaii.

Valuing both competitions (Lanzarote and Nice) with my coach Carles Tur, we have been able to affirm that both swimming and the weakest subject, in my case cycling, we have improved it, as has been seen in these races. Although from now on we will have to work more on foot, maybe we left it a little forgotten.

After Nice ... you decided to stop and not run any more Ironman to try to score more points. What was the reason? Have you had an injury?

After the Ironman of Nice I did not have a good recovery, which together with my recent fatherhood at the end of June, would have led me to the need to compete without the proper preparation and, surely, without achieving the objective of Kona 2016.

How have you spent these summer months? Where have you been training?

This summer I've been training in Sabadell, where better than at home? Respecting the guidelines of my coach and, of course, passing heat ... although I already do well! This week I'm busted ...
What are your next competitions in the remainder of 2016? Are you going to try to return to Hawaii next year?

Yes, I have my eye on Hawaii 2017, and for that I will start the season finishing 2016 competing in the Ironman of Barcelona in October and Ironman Cozumel in November. From there, I'll decide the rest of the calendar.

Thank you very much for serving us. A hug and a lot of encouragement
