Jesse Thomas wins the XXV Club la Santa Ironman Lanzarote

Iván Raña finishes fifth in the Miquel Blanchart test seventh. Tine Holst wins the women's event.

 

 

Today was held on the island of Lanzarote, a very special edition of the Club La Santa Ironman of Lanzarote since its XXV edition was celebrated.

For this he had the best poster in his history, since Jan Frodeno Ironman World Champion and Ironman 70.3 in 2015, Ivan Raña the triathlete with the second fastest mark of all time in an Ironman or Timo Bracht winner in 2011 and record holder of the event Miquel Blanchart Two times second in Lanzarote were among the favorites to victory.

The test began at 7 in the morning where he covered the 3,8 km of swimming in two laps, Jan Frodeno being the first to get out of the water, although due to a problem with his helmet in the transition he lost almost two minutes.

The fight for victory is very exciting in a beautiful duel between Jan Frodeno and Jesse Tomas who were running together for several kilometers

Finally Jesse Tomas, Winner of the Welsh Ironman with record of the test,  He advanced to the German obtaining the final victory in a time of 08: 42: 33. Jan Frodeno second (08: 44: 38) and David McNamee (08: 46: 36) third

The first to go out pedaling were Stephen Bayliss and David McNamee Iván Raña came out fourth followed by Carlos Lopez and Jan Frodeno. Miquel Blanchart was seventh.

On the bike, the British David McNamee imposed a strong rhythm that made him take the lead in the race, although the German Ackerman overtook him over the 80 km of the race and remained leader until T2, a minute behind entered Jan Frodeno who performed a spectacular running segment going up to second place. David McNamee was third.

The Spanish made a great performance by entering Ivan Raña sixth at 3 minutes and Miquel Blanchart at 8 from the head of the race.

Already in the race on foot, only in 5 km Jan Frodeno was able to overtake Ackerman placing himself leader of the race.

Female career

In the female category, the debutant this year Lucy Charles she was the fastest in the water, taking more than 7 minutes ahead of the 3,8 km and riding the bike alone. Saleta Castro She was the second and last year's champion Diana Riesler, came out a little behind in the water, although she was recovering positions on the bike, getting into second position.

After the 180 km of cycling, Lucy Charles and Tin Host arrived at T2 together, followed by Riana Reisler 2 minutes behind. Saleta Castro entered fourth position

In the foot race Tine Holst quickly took the lead, leaving behind Lucy Charles and Diana Reisler who was coming strong from behind.

Finally the victory was for Danish Tine Holst with a time of 10: 02: 35, followed by Alexandra Tondeur who did a great race on foot, climbing several positions to finally reach the second place. Lucy charles, winner of last year, got a great third final place.

Saleta Castro finally he could not complete the test and he has retired on the 21 km of running race.

Saleta told us " Everything went as we wanted until I reached km 10-12 and started with stomach problems. I started to vomit and completely emptied at the end and it was hard for me to walk and when I finished the 21 km already exhausted I saw my coach and stopped. I wanted to finish but it was impossible for me to take another step
