Analysis of the Spanish results in the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona (Hawaii)

We have analyzed the main results of the Spanish in the IRONMAN World Championship

 

 

At the 0: 00 hs on Sunday 11 October in Kailua-Kona (12: 00 Spanish time) ended the competition for all the triathletes in the Hawaii IM World. Here we show you a summary of the Spanish participation, with its general position (in the PROS), in each age group (for the GGEE) and the final time of each of the Spanish triathletes who have competed today in the Mecca of Triathlon .

Classification Spanish Pros IRONMAN HAWAII


The best Spanish in Kona has been Eneko Llanos, 7º of the final general with a time of 8: 28: 10, in 12ª position it entered Ivan Raña with 8: 34: 27 and in 17ª Miquel Blanchart in 8: 45: 21. 

In addition to highlighting the general position of the three, it is important to mention the points added by each of them for the 2016 World Cup, since Kona scores twice as much as the continental championships and four times more than an Ironman. Eneko has added 4250 points (more than winning in Frankfurt), with it has foot and a half in Kona 2016, Ivan Raña with 2240 points (more than winning Austria) takes an important step to repeat in 'The Mecca' next year. On the other hand Miquel has added 880, which is equivalent to more points than an 5ª square in an 2000 IM.

Age groups

Spanish GGEE IRONMAN HAWAII classification

In age groups the best has been Iván Álvarez with a time of 9: 09: 24, obtaining a fantastic 5ª position in his GGEE and being the 4º Spanish in goal. In addition to Ivan, there have been 7 triathletes who have come down from 10hs. On the other hand highlight the 8ª position of Miguel Largo in 18-24.

For their part, the women have made a great competition, Mabel Gallardo was the first to enter the finish line with a 10 time: 27: 43 being 6ª in 35-39, getting the best position of a Spaniard in GGEE Hawaii. After her with a time of 10: 56: 36 a fantastic Marina Leboso, 18ª in 25-29 in its debut in Kona

Finally I do not want to leave to the triathletes that I encourage most send from this article. On one side Victor de Corral Tomás Amado They could not take the start because of an injury and health problems respectively. And on the other hand to the triathletes that could not finish the competition, Joan Capdevila and  brothers Clemente and Michael Alonso, this last one by a strong fall in bike where the clavicle and the helmet broke possibly saved him from something much worse. Many encouragement to the 5, I'm sure they will fight and they will return to Kona to settle their outstanding accounts.
