Ricardo Abad will make two Ironman Lanzarote consecutively

Last year on the occasion of the Santa Ironman Lanzarote Club Ricardo Abad completed 8 Ironman on 8 consecutive days, this 2016 will aim to cover 2 times the Lanzarote Ironman consecutively, on the occasion of the 25th edition. The official hastag of the challenge is #2imLanzaroteNonStop

 

 Last year you did 8IMs of Lanzarote. How do you remember this challenge? What was the hardest moment?

Buff, it was one of the toughest challenges I've ever faced in my life, it was eight very long days, I started with the officer, the next two quite well, but afterwards I was more tired every day and it took me more hours to finish, the hours of rest every day were less and the body was getting more tired, I was about to leave the fourth day.

And this year your challenge will be 2 IM LZ Non Stop How will you do it? What day and time do you plan to start ... and finish it?

This year I wanted to do something special for the 25 anniversary, I am working on trying to complete a triple this year and this double of Lanzarote will serve as preparation, to date I have made two doubles but always in a pool, never in open waters, besides the Lanzarote circuit is one of the toughest and most demanding in the world both for its orography and its climate. It will not be easy.

The idea is to start with the challenge to the 16: 30 on Friday 20 just after leaving the bike and the necessary material for the officer. I will swim on the beach, then I will have to do more than half of the bike at night with lights and finish running a night marathon. The idea is to finish this first half hour or so before the official start, eat something and go back to the water at 7: 00 with the official's departure. The estimated time to complete the two will be between 26 and 28 hours.

 
Last year you already ran 8 times and you know the routes well. What advice do you give to the people who debuted on "La Isla"?

The advice I always give in Lanzarote is that of not overpowering with the bike, it is a very demanding course between the hard steep slopes and the strong wind, if you fatten it with it you get off without legs. I spent the first year I participated, I came from Ironcat to make a bike in 5: 10 and I became obsessed with going down for six hours and then I almost did not finish the Marathon.

Currently ... With how many Record Guinness accounts?

 Guinness Record is something "hypothetical", many times it is more a way of speaking, currently I have two. The largest number of Marathons chained on consecutive days with 607 Marathons in 607 days and the largest number of Ironman distances completed in a year with 100.

Skechers Performance are the official shoes of Ironman Europe, and one of your main sponsors. Could you tell us which shoe model you use to train? And which ones will you use in the 2IMLZ Non Stop?

The most used model these years is the Gorun Ride, I started with the Ride 3 in 2014, in 2015 the most used pair was Ride 4 and this year I am very comfortable with the Ride 5. For the double of Lanzarote I will start with the Forza 4 and the officer will do it with the Ride 5

 Finally, we would like to know a little more about your foundation, what types of projects are you working on? and how can we collaborate?

The project of the Foundation is a long-term project, after taking forward countless solidarity projects in collaboration with Children's Villages, Unicef, Anfas and Gerna, the Foundation was born. 

I wanted to change everything and take a leap in quality, in addition to having everything much more regulated. We are working on support and integration of people with intellectual disabilities and rare diseases. We create sports events and challenges to raise funds almost always via sponsorship, besides being regulated is always easier to apply for scholarships.

For this summer we are working on a campus of equine therapy (therapy with horses), we want to develop a campus for children with disabilities. We have many projects for the future.

 Collaboration in these cases is cheaper, any company has an open door to support the project.
