1º Science and Triathlon Congress

Next March 2011, specifically on the 24th, 25th and 26th, the city of Alicante will become the world capital of triathlon, with the celebration of the "I World Congress Science and Triathlon", organized by the University of Alicante. (Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences) jointly with the ITU (International Triathlon Union).

The congress was officially presented at the ITU assembly last weekend during the Grand Final of the Triathlon World Championships in Budapest (Hungary). The presentation was made by Dr. Roberto Cejuela, president of the scientific committee of the congress and technician of the triathlon federation of the Valencian Community.

The main objective of the Congress is to create and share a forum of scientific and technical knowledge applied to the sport of triathlon at all levels and spheres. For this, there will be plenary conferences given by different world-class scientists and coaches, oral communications and posters open to the presentation of work by anyone in the world, whose objective is to share knowledge and innovative scientific research in the different sports sciences (training , physiology, biomechanics, psychology...) applied to triathlon. The technical talks will have as objective the application to the training or development of the triathlon of the scientific investigations or the practical experiences of the professors-coaches.

The official language of the congress will be English, but simultaneous translation into Spanish will be available.
In addition, during the week prior to the Congress, there will be an International Development Training Camp organized by the ITU, taking advantage of the magnificent facilities and weather conditions that the University of Alicante combines.

During the congress there will be an exhibition fair with the most important brands in the sector, so that all those attending the congress can see first-hand the innovations in the market.

The congress will be organized every 2 or 3 years in different universities of the world in its successive editions, for this reason we must highlight the importance of the first edition being in Spain and at the University of Alicante.
