20 days to the Cascais Swim GP

The countdown has begun. With just three weeks to go until the starting shot is fired, Cascais Swim Grand Prix is preparing to welcome more than 700 swimmers from more than 30 countries.

This event, recognized as the most important open water event in Portugal, will be held from September 21 to 22 and will feature the participation of athletes from Spain, Brazil, Germany, the United States and many other corners of the world.

In its twelfth edition, the Swim Grand Prix has been nominated worldwide as Event of the Year by the World Open Water Association (WOWSA), underlining its relevance on the international scene.

A challenge for all levels

The event offers a wide range of competitions, from the demanding 20km crossing between Lisbon and Cascais, to the 10km aquatic marathon linking Oeiras and Cascais, passing through 5km, 3.8km, 1.9km and 1km events.

There is also room for the youngest, with children's 400 and 200 metre competitions to be held on 21 September.

The starting gun

Saturday 21st September will mark the start of the event with the longest ultramarathon swim in Portugal, a 20km race that will start at Doca de Belém in Lisbon and will end at Praia dos Pescadores in Cascais, crossing the municipalities of Lisbon and Oeiras.

At the same time, the 10km aquatic marathon will take place, starting at Praia da Torre in Oeiras and finishing in Cascais, where spectators will be able to enjoy the competition from a natural amphitheatre.

Opportunities for triathletes

This year, the Swim Grand Prix is ​​introducing a new model of 5km, 1.9km and 1km point-to-point races, which will allow participants to enjoy the best beaches on the coast between Lisbon and Cascais.

In addition, the event is presented as an excellent training opportunity for triathletes, especially for those preparing for the HOMBRE DE HIERRO Portugal.

The 3.8km course replicates the IRONMAN swim course, giving athletes the chance to familiarize themselves with the course and test their strategies.

Cascais, a paradise for sport and tourism

The town of Cascais, with its stunning beaches, charming old town and spectacular Boca do Inferno, is the perfect setting for combining sport and tourism.

Companions of triathletes will find a wide range of activities, from walks along the coast to cultural visits and tastings of local cuisine.
