3 triathletes among the best athletes in the world in 2018

The prestigious magazine Sport Ilustrated has published the list of 50 best athletes in the world, where we find 3 triathletes, Gew Jorgensen,  Daniela Ryf y Patric Lange although no Spanish.

With the help of coaches, exercise physiologists, and performance experts, athletes were selected based on their performance in the past 12 months, assessing the demands and risks of their respective sports, durability, training regimens, and other physical criteria including power, speed, strength, agility, endurance, flexibility and more.

For the magazine the best athletes of the past 2018 were Saquon Barkley of 21 years of the football team New York Giants where he got his first year to pass the 2.000 yards in competition. In the female category, the chosen one was the gymnast Simone Biles of 21 years, the most decorated in the world with 14 world records

Among the triathletes Gwen Jorgensen  occupies the fifth position,  Daniela Ryla the eighth and Patric Lange the fourteenth.

As for the Gwen JorgensenAfter becoming the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic triathlon, Gwen Jorgensen decided to leave the sport, and her place as one of the world's greatest triathletes, to pursue a new one: the marathon. Following the birth of his son in 2017, Jorgensen, 32, declared that his new goal was to win a gold medal in the Olympic marathon in '20, and so far, he has seen positive results in the distance.

In October of 2018, Daniela Ryf, of 31 years, won his fourth consecutive IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, even after having suffered a sting (twice!) of a jellyfish in the first moments of the swim stage.

On the other hand the German Patrick Lange became the first athlete to drop below eight hours at the IROMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, setting a new record with a time of 7:52:39 for his second consecutive title. Surprisingly, the 32-year-old trialteta didn't make his first full IRONMAN run until 2016 and prior to becoming a professional triathlete, Lange worked as a licensed physical therapist, putting much of his training on recovery.
