4 Stage MTB Lanzarote: Smeenge and Kortekaas shine in the second stage

The second stage of the 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote It has not disappointed in terms of excitement, with a route full of fast descents and a lot of strategy on the part of the favourites.

So much Tim Smeenge , the Tessa Kortekaas, both of Dutch nationality, have once again imposed their pace to arrive in first position and consolidate their position at the top of the general classification.

The fastest route to Tinguatón

In the first 24 kilometers of the stage, the race headed towards Tinguatón, in the zone of White stain, where the German Niklas Ranker took the initiative.

The route, marked by volcanic dust sections and high-speed stretches, kept the peloton together until the key descents arrived. This point was decisive for the riders with better technique and power to step forward.

The fight in the men's category

The men's race was a tight one, with several participants trying to pull away in the most demanding sections.

 When passing through the fastest parts, Tim Smeenge He stood firm alongside runners of the caliber of the Spaniard Luis Leon Sanchez and the Chilean Sebastian Andres Gesche.

The leader of the previous day knew how to manage his energy at the right moment and, after riding for several minutes in the wake of Luis Leon Sanchez, took the lead to enter first into the Club La Santa Stadium.

Women's category: Kortekaas wins with ease

On the girls' side, the Dutch Tessa Kortekaas once again showed a superior level throughout the entire race.

She was the fastest in the first 24 kilometers and maintained the advantage on the descents, dominating with authority to cross the finish line in 2: 30: 39: 43. The podium was completed with Puck Pinxt (2ª) and Janka Keseg (3ª).

With this victory, Tessa Kortekaas is consolidating its position in the general female classification, accumulating 3: 40: 00: 41. The second place is occupied by Puck Pinxt, just over five minutes away, while Janka Keseg remains in third position, 17 minutes behind the leader.

Expectations for the longest stage

Tomorrow comes the longest stage in the 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote, which includes a time trial in the middle of the climb to the Mala Dam.

The route will combine long climbs, fast-paced tracks and descents that could make a significant difference.
