8 Spaniards in the Sunderland Triathlon World Series

This weekend they return Triathlon World Series in the city of Sunderland from United Kingdom.

In this test Spain will be represented by eight elite athletes, ready to face the best triathletes in the world.

Sunderland, an elite stage

Sunderland is a city located in the North East of England, known for its rich industrial history and vibrant cultural scene.

For the first time the city will add a new chapter to its history by hosting the 2023 World Triathlon Series.

Yesterday, the British Triathlon Federation confirmed that by the year 2024 there will be no WTCS andin that country.

Among the Spanish participants, we find Mario Mola, Miriam Casillas , Noelia Juan, Anna Godoy , Maria Casals , Antonio Serrat , Alberto González y Sergio Baxter .

The favorites of the competition

Although the competition will be close, some names stand out among the favourites. Basque Vilaça from Portugal, Hayden Wilde from New Zealand and Léo Bergere from France are some of the favorites in the men's category.

In the female category, Cassandre Beaugrand y Emma lombi, both from France, are the favourites.

Competition details

The competition will take place over the weekend of July 29-30, 2023.

The athletes will compete in the sprint triathlon modality, which includes swimming, cycling and running.


Saturday 29

  • 15:00 – Men's elite test (sprint)
  • 16:35 – Women's elite test (sprint)

Sunday 30th

  • 14:15 – Elite mixed relay
