More than 900 triathletes will be at IRONMAN Lanzarote

The preparation of the XXIX Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote enters the final stretch.

On Saturday, July 3, the Oldest IRONMAN in Europe and one of the most important in the world.

After the success in organizing the 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote by Club Santa, the Canarian hotel complex will host the IRONMAN Lanzarote one more year.

The test has the support from the main public institutions local and regional, thus contributing to the economic recovery of the island.

About four kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers by bicycle and, finally, 42 of running on foot will challenge the more than 900 triathletes willing to surpass themselves.

Participants will enjoy the views and landscapes of the island of Lanzarote while pushing their endurance capacity to the limit.

Will host the Triathlon Military World Championship.

One of the main novelties of this year's edition will be the dispute of the Triathlon Military World Championship.

Military triathletes from different countries of the world will travel to Lanzarote to compete in the IRONMAN, representing their different nationalities by teams.

These soldiers will carry out the same route as the other triathletes, but will have their own classification.

44 Slots for Kona in Play

In addition, this edition of IRONMAN Lanzarote will award 44 places for the Triathlon World Championship that will take place in Hawaii on October 9.

Of those 44 places, 40 will be destined for age groups and 4 for professional triathletes. Each age group will have at least one guaranteed place for the legendary Kona event.

The event will be held under strict preventive and health measures, included in the COVID-19 protocol approved by the organization and the competent authorities.

Among these measures, it should be noted that no volunteer will be able to assist the triathletes at the refreshment stations, but it will be the participants who will directly collect the products they need.

Professionals

Last week we published the provisional list of professionals that they will go to the test.

Among them are Iván Raña, Patrick Nilson, Andi Boecherer, Alessandro Degasperi, Romain Guillaume, Laura Siddal or Michele Vesterby among others.

And among the Spanish professionals in addition to Raña will be Carlos Aznar or Eneko Elosegui
