One of the toughest modalities of the Olympic Games will have at least one Basque representative: Ainhoa Murua from Zarauz will compete in the triathlon again after her two participations in the last editions of the Games.
The monitoring of athletes from the Basque Country who opt to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games is the objective of the monthly program 'BAT to London 2012', the sixth installment of which is broadcast this Thursday starting at 22:30 p.m. on ETBK Sat.
Presented by Iñigo Asensio, this space follows the preparation of the Basque Olympians and also includes in-depth interviews with the athletes and their families and coaches, testimonials from veteran Olympians, or monitoring the preparations in the British capital for what will be the main world sporting event in 2012.
Martín Fiz will be in charge of opening the last program of the series in 2011, in which he will recount his Olympic participation in the marathon. The athlete from Vitoria starred in a spectacular fourth place in Atlanta 1996 and was sixth in Sydney 2000, fighting with the best athletes in the specialty.
The program will continue with one of the first Basque athletes to qualify for the London 2012 Games. He is Juanjo Aranburu, a shooter from Irun, who already participated in the skeet event in Beijing 2008. After recently being proclaimed World Champion , his aspirations for the competition next summer are maximum. The 'BAT to London 2012' team has been with the Gipuzkoan shooter at his training center in Mallorca.
One of the toughest modalities of the Olympic Games will have at least one Basque representative: Ainhoa Murua from Zarauz will compete in the triathlon again after her two participations in the last editions of the Games. Murua has completed her best season since she was in the world elite of this sport, and she is finalizing her preparation for the London test, combining it with her teaching work at the Salbatore Mitxelena ikastola in her hometown.
The program will revisit London just six months after the British capital becomes the world center of sport. On this occasion, the whitewater channel in which the slalom canoeing events will be held has been visited by a broad Basque representation, led by the state coach, and former Barcelona'92 Olympian, Xabier Etxaniz.
"BAT to London 2012" airs this Thursday from 22:30 pm on ETBK Sat.
