Ainhoa Murua Plata and Tamara Gómez Bronze in the European Cup of Banyoles
After a brilliant competition, Ainhoa Murua has won the medal plata in the Premium European Cup Triathlon celebrated this Sunday 5 of May in Banyoles. The British Lucy Hall was the first to complete the two laps of swimming around Lake Banyoles, followed at 14 seconds by the local triathlete Carolina Routier and after her, the Italian Gaia Peron, the French Anastasia Abrosimova and Anna Godoy, Among others.
The 40 km cyclists were contested with a very compact peloton leading the contest, made up of Tamara Gómez, Katrien Verstuyft, Agnieszka Jerzyk, and Aida Valiño, among others. The sector would pass without major shocks until reaching T2.
Murua, Gomez and Jerzyk would break the race by taking the lead. Already in the race on foot the medals would settle between the trio of head, that marched to a very strong rate in its fight by the highest of the podium. With one lap to go, Tamara led the race, followed by Murua and Jerzyk. However, in the end the Pole would end up being imposed on the rest thanks to her great stride, entering the finish line with more than 30 seconds ahead. After her an immeasurable Murua achieved the silver, while the ilicitana after a splendid career signed the bronze medal.
For its part, Melina Alonso ended in 18º place, Anna Godoy it was 19 and Aida Valiño, which also did not arrive in full condition after the fall suffered last weekend during the Spanish Duathlon Championship of Pontevedra, achieved the 20ª square.
