Albert Moreno and Usoa Ostolaza champions of Spain of Duathlon MD 2021

Today the Spanish Medium Distance Duathlon Championship was held in Soria with a large lineup of professionals at the starting line.

In the men's category, victory has been for Albert Moreno followed by Miguel Angel Fidalgo and by Gonzalo Fuentes third.

In females the victory has been for Use Ostolaza followed by Sonia Bejarano and by Enara Oronozén. 

Usoa Ostolaza prevailed with a time of 3:38:46, slightly less than six minutes than that invested by Sonia Bejarano, from Marlins Triathlon Madrid, and eleven minutes over Enara Oronoz, from Saltoki Trikideak.

The fourth position in the race, although not in the Spanish championship, was for the Belgian Sandra Schenkel, from Diablillos de Rivas. Fifth in the race and fourth in the national, Pilar Arias, from the Villalba Triathlon, was classified, and sixth in the race and fifth in the Spanish championship, Marta Cabello, from Diablillos.

Albert Moreno prevailed in the men's category with a time of 3:07:39, ahead of Miguel Ángel Fidalgo, from Xtremecalviá, just over a minute and a half, and with Gonzalo Fuentes in third position less than four minutes of the winner.

Carlos Mancebo, from Trientrenos, and local Enrique Fernández Pinedo, from the Soriano Triathlon, closed the first five positions.

In addition to this competition, the Spanish Duathlon Championship has been held in age groups.

Standard Age Groups and MD

Francesc Escolá (Triatló Cornellá) (2.00: 58) was the first to reach the finish line of the day, who became the fastest of the Standard Distance Age Groups and who led the 25-29-year-old Group. Two minutes away, Pedro De la Torre (CD Triaspe) from the 18-19 year old Group arrived. The third best time was set by Iván Ruiz a few seconds behind De la Torre (Octavus Triathlon) of Group 30-34.

In women, the best mark was achieved by Esther Maqueda (2.23: 24) (AdSevilla) belonging to the GGEE 40-44. More than three minutes apart, Laura Fermoso (Olid Triathlon Team, also 40-44 and half a minute, Mariola Urabayen (Independent) 35-39, signed the three best times.

In the case of Middle Distance Age Groups, the best male brand was for Tanausú Castellano (Disa Hospital Perpetuo) (3.22: 03) aged 35-39 years. Second time for David Mendes just 12 seconds (Silicmag Trisport) of the same Age Group. Roberto Anta, six minutes away (Bierzo Triathlon), again, from the same Group, would set the third best result.

While, in the women's event, the fastest was Nuria Ribalta (4.05: 54) (Prosan Triathlon) from the 45 and 49-year-old age group. Two minutes later, Uxía Fernández (Rias Baixas Triathlon) from Group 30-34 entered and three minutes from Fernández, Belén González (Aguilas Primaflor) from Age Group 25-29 arrived.
