The 600 race participants must complete more than 600 kilometers in extreme conditions that will measure the high mountain, the most authentic desert and the adventure of navigation. Discover the route of the Titan stage by stage.

But Alejandro Santamaría does not settle for a single challenge. The long distance triathlete after each stage will be in charge of sending a summary of the test and his experience for all readers of Triathlon News, discovering the Titan from within and bringing the triathlete a little closer to this exciting experience.

How is 2015 planned at the sports level? Calendar and new challenges ahead

This year the main objective is to enjoy the sport that I love. After 23 seasons doing triathlon I look for goals that motivate me and have fun to train and compete more motivated.

The main part of the calendar will be the Full of the Vitoria Triathlon and the Km0 triathlon held in Madrid. In between some means that I will define how they can be Buelna and someone else. And as a novelty this year I will participate in the Titan Desert.

How and when did the idea of competing in TITAN DESERT 2015 arise?

I have a good friend that I train with a group of friends and they finally convinced me to go with them as a coach.

Do you pose with possibility to a TOP 10 or Podium or as a new experience to enjoy?

I am going to enjoy it so I do not look for results, although someday it is possible that I squeeze to see where I am going. For me it will be a good training for my goals.

Have you ever competed in a similar test in stages or with a very high level of MTB requirement?

This will be a totally new experience. In MTNB I have competed little, only in some mountain triathlons or in the X-Terra World Championship but only one day. The only wild thing of several days that I have done has been the IronTour in France 2 years. That consisted of 6 days doing a triathlon of different distances and with a high level each day with several world champions.

Tell us a little about how your training has been for this adventure?

I have come out more in MTB than in other years and I have done long workouts to get used to the ass. There will be stages of more than 5h a day. But I have not changed much my preparation as a triathlete.

We know that among the 600 participants there are enough triathletes. What advice would you give them in their training? And for the competition?

There is little left for your training sessions, so it is best to rest. And for competition, be careful with chafing, try to ride in a group and eat well to keep up with the rhythm. And after the titan, rest a bit to super compensate and take advantage of that peak so that it can give you other challenges.

What is your strong point for this test and ... some weak?

I do not know the desert or what I will find, the good thing is that I adapt to everything and I am a survivor. As the days go by I go to more.
