Alistair Brownlee returns with a win at the San Diego World Series

The second day of the San Diego World Series It has been marked by the trepidante rhythm that has had the appointment from beginning to end.

 

 

Alistair Brownlee he has achieved the victory in his return to the competition, after a great race on foot. The silver has been for the South African Richard Murray, while bronze has fallen to the Portuguese Joao Silva.

 

 

 

All the Spaniards in liza have made a splendid competition, offering a great display in the Californian city, cradle of the modern triathlon. Mario Mola has been the first Spaniard to cross the finish line in an excellent fifth placeFollowed by Javier Gómez Noya, 8º and Fernando Alarza, 11º. After these results, Joao Silva is ranked leader of the ITU 2013 World Series, with Mario Mola occupying the second position and Gómez Noya in third place; in a splendid start to the season and demonstrating the great moment they are going through.

 

 

The first to complete the initial swim 1500m, have been the local Tommy Zaferes, followed by a few seconds by Alistair Brownlee, Richard Varga and the Spaniards Gómez Noya and Alarza, among others.

 

Then a group of nine have led the first laps of the 40 km cyclists, including the British Brownlee, the Australian Aaron Royle, Gomez Noya and Alarza. In this section, the strong rhythm marked since the departure of the T1 has predominated.

 

Behind, the rest of Spaniards was placed in the pursuit platoon, formed by 30 triathletes that tried to cut the differences. The leading group has dominated the first bars of the sector; until the middle of the segment, when the pursuit squad has chased them. Since then there have been several leaks, some of them with Gomar and Raña as protagonists (both triathletes have obtained the second and third best part of the sector), providing an exciting show.

 

A trio of Jesus Gomar, Andrey Bryukhankov and Dennis Vasiliev has reached T2 in the lead. However, Gomar has suffered an unfortunate accident when he got off the bike. bike, losing valuable seconds. Behind them, the rest of the peloton was preparing to face the final 10 km of the race on foot.

 

This last sector has been decisive when deciding the champion of this second round of the World Series, with an explosive Brownlee getting rid of his rivals to go alone to the finish line. While the Mallorcan Mola (who has harvested the fifth best record in the sector) has been advancing positions, to finish in a brilliant fifth place; with Ferrolano Noya entering an outstanding eighth position. For its part, in its premiere in the 2013 World Series, Alarza has been at a very good level, ranking at the top throughout the race. Similarly, it is worth noting the great role of all our triathletes, who have performed at a very high level, leaving very good feelings for the next competitions.
