Kona 2019 analysis: Jan Frodeno's swimming and the third best marathon in Anne Haug's history make them take the title

Yesterday was one of the fastest tests in history in Kona

Yesterday we were able to see once again the show that the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona.

There was a German double, with the expected victory of Jan Frodeno who has won his third world title and the spectacular comeback of Anne Haug getting his first world title.

Jan Frodeno's swimming makes him break the test record

Jan has not broken any record in the test segments this year, but with a great swim he has been able to set the IM Kona record in 7: 51: 13

Although Jan swam 22 seconds (47: 31) slower than last year (Josh Amberger 47: 39), it was faster and I cut more than 3 minutes to the time achieved by Lange in 2018.

On the bike it was about 6 minutes slower than in 2018 (Cameron Wurf 4: 09: 06) and with almost the same time as Lange.

In the marathon of 2: 42: 43, it was slower than other winners (1: 12 slower than Lange in 2018) but it earned him the victory and the test record with a final time of 7: 51: 13 .

The Frodeno marathon has been 1: 26 faster than the last year he won in Kona in the year 2016

Anne Haug gets the third best time ever in the marathon

As for the female event, the German Anne Haug he achieved victory with a great marathon sector completing the 4 2km in 2:51:07, the third fastest time ever in Kona. The record is held by Mirinda Carfrae with 2:50:26 in 2014.

The British Lucy Charles I dominated practically the entire test until in kilometer 30 of the race Haug overtook it.
