Andrea Mediero and Adrien Latestere win at Berlanga de Duero

It was the first qualifier for the Spanish Duathlon Championship

The Duathlon of the Soria locality of Berlanga de Duero put on the table the high sport level and how expensive the classification for the Spanish Duathlon Championship to be held in Soria next 13 and 14 in April.

In a day of clean skies, good temperature in the sun and cold in the shade, the wind, which seemed to have a low incidence in the first segment, hardened the test significantly on the bike to define the places for the championship national of the Spanish Triathlon Federation and the Soria capital.

After an equal and open test in both men and women, Andrea Mediero (Sestao Triatloi Taldea) (1.08: 05) and Adrien Latestere (Saltoki Diquesi Trikideak) (58: 25) imposed their mandate in the first qualifying round that put 12 in play for the national. In addition, a regional test was held in which they climbed to the top of the podium Ana de Pablo (1.21: 03) and Pedro Madrazo (Soriano Triathlon) (1.05: 05).

The environmental elements were going to play their role in Berlanga de Duero. On the one hand, the day offered a magnificent temperature to the sun, while in the penumbra areas, there was an important temperature contrast. But the guest who would most affect the test would be the wind, especially for its surprise effect, since while in the segment on foot through the streets of Berlanga de Duero just made an appearance, on two wheels, next to the asphalt rough, it made this part harden considerably.

In the men's event, the first 5 kilometers on foot, in two turns, were frantic, with Urko Herrán setting the pace and hardening the race. Trying to lose the stele yielding as little as possible appeared the Soriano Nacho Barranco and the Valladolid Raul Manso, leading a large group. The work of some and others would pay off, on the one hand, although Herrán arrived neutralized at the first transition, he had caused great wear, while the squad had managed to avoid greater evils.

However, the peloton was soon going to realize that the segment of two laps and 23 total kilometers on wheels was going to have a lot of crumb, with strong gusts of wind that would hinder any individual adventure, but could be lethal in the case of catching the wrong wheel. In fact, the race was cut in two very numerous groups when arriving at the second transition, which left the victory very open and the classification practically on track for the members of the head positions.

After 2,5 final kilometers to dog face, Adrien Latestere won with the victory with seven seconds of advantage over Nicolás Regidor and Javier Rosado, which would make up the male podium. The best local rider would be Rubén Andrés, fourteenth in the finish line after signing a superb partial rider.

In females, Marina Muñoz would be the athlete who would animate the first segment, although in this case the selection would be greater, with Sonia Juliá, Andrea Mediero and Sofía Aguayo passing together in the first round. Already in the transition, the Mediero, Juliá and Muñoz achieved a few seconds of rent, which would expand in the cycling segment.

The differences would open and the podium began to have clear favorites, but not the victory. Already in the last turn on foot, the race returned to become a final sprint, where Mediero was stronger, adding 14 seconds before Muñoz and third would be Juliá, specialist in long distances, and saw how the race was something left short for your interests.
