Paratriathlon will be at the Los Angeles 2028 Games

World Triathlon has announced that following a comprehensive review process, the Board of Directors of the International Paralympic Committee has confirmed the inclusion of Paratriathlon in the program of the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Paratriathlon made its debut at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, and since then it has always been present, with more medals and athletes confirmed for Paris 2024.

There will be 22 sports included in the LA 2028 program

The modalities included will be the following:

  • Archery
  • Athletics
  • Badminton
  • Wheelchair Basketball
  • Boccia
  • Rafting
  • Cycling
  • Horse riding
  • wheelchair fencing
  • Football for the blind
  • goalball
  • Judo
  • Weightlifting
  • Swimming
  • Remo
  • wheelchair rugby
  • Taekwondo
  • Table tennis
  • wheelchair tennis
  • Sport's shot
  • triathlon
  • sitting volleyball

The opportunity was also given for LA28 to explore including climbing and surfing in their programme.

And if these sports are considered, the final decision will be made by the CPI Board of Directors at the end of 2023.
