Avilés receives almost 2 million euros thanks to the 2024 Spanish Duathlon Championship
The recent Spanish Duathlon Championship Avilés 2024, held on April 6 and 7, has had a notable economic impact on the city, generating 1,7 million euros in returns.
This result is the result of the direct expenditure of the almost one thousand participating athletes and their companions, as well as the equivalent advertising valuation due to coverage in national and regional media.
Investment in local suppliers, with the participation of numerous companies and professionals from Avilés and Asturias, has been another key factor in these results.
The media impact of the event has been significant. The live broadcast through TeleDeporte on RTVE Play, along with coverage in digital, printed and audiovisual media, has consolidated the economic return of the championship.
In addition, the projection on social networks has increased the visibility of the event and the city.
Since 2014, Avilés has become a benchmark in the organization of duathlon events, hosting nine Spanish championships and two Duathlon World Championships in 2016 and 2021.
These events have attracted more than 40.000 people from more than 40 countries, generating almost 10 million euros in direct returns in the last decade.
