Banyoles will host the European Mixed Relay Triathlon Championship for Clubs and the Spanish Triathlon Championship

Banyoles will once again be the venue for international triathlon events.

Specifically, on the weekend of August 27 and 28, the European Mixed Relay Triathlon Championship for Clubs and the Spanish Olympic Distance Triathlon Federation Championship will be held in the surroundings of the Lake with a participation around the 1.500 athletes.

12 years of international triathlon

For the twelfth consecutive year, Banyoles will be the scene of international triathlon competitions in a weekend of tests that will begin on Friday afternoon, with the first training sessions, and will end at noon on Sunday with the last competitions.

In addition to the national and European events, the 36th edition of the Triatló de Catalunya, the oldest Spanish triathlon competition, will also be held.

The mayor of Banyoles, Miquel Noguer, has highlighted that "un another year Banyoles will show its commitment to triathlon with a fully consolidated event in the competition calendar, not only Catalan and state, but also international.

For his part, the Director of Competitions of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, Jorge García, highlighted that “In recent years, Banyoles has managed to position itself as a reference brand around sport” and added that “Banyoles' organizational model is unique and it has to be valued because part of the work of many volunteers".

The Banyoles International Triathlon weekend will start on Saturday morning with the Spanish Triathlon Championship for the youth and junior categories and, in the afternoon, it will be the turn for the age groups and for the Triathlon of Catalonia.

On Sunday the Mixed Relay Triathlon European Championship for Clubs and the elite Spanish Championship will take place.
