Banyoles is preparing to receive the European Youth and the national Olympic Triathlon
The city of Banyoles will celebrate from September 6 to 9 the European Youth Festival, Spanish Triathlon Championship in Olympic distance and the XXXVIII TRiatlo of Catalonia They will attract more than 1500 triathletes.
The activities will begin on Thursday, September 5, with the official cycling and swimming recognitions, as well as the delivery of numbers and documentation to the triathletes. On Friday the 6th, starting at 18 p.m., the three qualifying semifinal series of the European Youth Triathlon Festival will be held.
On Saturday the 7th, the finals of the European Youth Festival, the Junior and Youth category competitions of the Spanish Championship will be held, and the highlight: the Spanish Triathlon Championship in Olympic distance and the XXXVIII Triatló de Catalunya, which will begin at 16 p.m.
On Sunday the 8th, the event will close with the Mixed Relay of the European Youth Festival and the elite events of the national Olympic distance Triathlon, in which high-level competition is expected.
A legacy of success
In 2023, Banyoles will already host the European Youth Championship and the national Triathlon Club and Relay events.
The champions of the European Youth Festival were Fanni Szalai and Tristan Douche, while the French team took victory in the Mixed Relay. At the Spanish Championships, the Diablillos de Rivas and Cidade de Lugo Fluvial teams took top honors.
Regarding the Spanish Olympic Distance Triathlon Championship in 2023, Maria Casals and David Castro were crowned champions. The women's podium was completed by Iratxe Arenal and Natalia Castro, while, on the men's podium, Esteban Basanta and Antonio Serrat They accompanied Castro on the podium.
