Bilbao will once again have a great international bicycle fair

The BEC will host the first edition of the BIBE fair on 28, 29 and 30 days in November. Its goal is to become the showcase for the cycling and cycling industry in northern Spain.

The European calendar of the big dates of the bicycle industry and cycling fans will incorporate a new reference: it will be the next days 28, 29 and 30 of November in the BEC, with the help of the Bilbao International Bike Exhibition, BIBE 2014. This new bike fair wants to fill the gap left by 15 years ago by Cicle and become an attractive showcase for bicycle brands, components and accessories, as well as for lovers and fans of the bicycle world.

The passion for the bicycle will be transferred to the BEC during three intense days, with presence of the main brands of the bicycle universe, and with a full schedule of sports and leisure activities with the bicycle as the protagonist. An appointment that foresees to gather around 20.000 visitors from both the Basque Country and nearby communities.

This was discovered by José Bonilla (director of BIBE), Joxean Fernández 'Matxín' (director of the Lampre-Merida team) and Julián Sanz (ultra-round cyclist who will try to beat a world record at the fair) at the press conference to present which was also attended by many personalities, linked to cycling and who offered their support to the initiative, such as Joane Somarriba, Ramontxu González Arrieta, Miguel Madariaga, Gorka Gerrikagoitia, Xabier Basañez (BEC) and Juan Carlos González Salvador, among others.

And it is that BIBE will also count during the days of the fair with the presence of protagonists of great renown in this world of the bike, as former well-known champions and other cyclists that now stand out in the international scene.

Annual periodicity

Bilbao thus recovers its bicycle fair, conceived annually, collecting the witness of the now defunct 'Cicle' 15 years ago, with the aim of placing this new fair in the next five years in the calendar of major events of reference at European level, next to major fairs such as Velofollies (Belgium), Birmingham (England), Eurobike (Germany) or Unibike (Madrid). BIBE (Bilbao International Bike Exhibition) works, therefore, to consolidate itself in the international panorama of bicycle fairs. And even more in a territory of reference of this sport as it is the north of Spain, where cycling is so ingrained.

Precisely, BIBE was born in a place where the bicycle is lived in a very special way: the Basque Country, which has an enthusiastic hobby and a very solid sector in this area with brands of great importance.

From 60 to 80 stands

The first edition of BIBE plans to gather 60 and 80 stands of brands of bicycle manufacturers, components and accessories, in a fair with an extensive program of activities for bicycle lovers to participate, enjoy and interact with the activities and exhibitions that They will take place over the three days. Here there will be space for many types of disciplines (race bicycles, MTB bicycles, urban and electric bicycles ...), as well as for its multiple components, accessories, clothes, shoes, books, magazines, races ...

BIBE emerges as a platform for leisure, knowledge, business and relationships that move on the two wheels of the bicycle. We will talk about the 'Bicycle' with capital letters, in a fair of a sector in continuous development.

Pavilion number 2 of the BEC

The number 2 pavilion of the BEC (of 12.000 square meters) will become a magical space where everything will revolve around the world of the bicycle. It will include a rich and varied program of spectacular activities on two wheels, exhibitions of legendary bicycles and giant screen projections, where you will promote knowledge, the exchange of ideas, the networking between companies and brands, and where forums on food and nutrition in cycling will also be organized.

There will also be medical sessions to prevent injuries, lectures on biomechanics, classes with prestigious monitors, road safety workshops, circuit testing to test electric bicycles ... All this thinking of offering visitors all the opportunities to enjoy the world of cycling from different points of view.
