Blummenfelt wants to win the ITU World Cup and qualify for Kona in 2 weeks

The Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt, recent winner of the Tokyo Olympics is going for it all and wants to be this year Olympic champion, ITU triathlon world champion and win in the IRONMAN Hawaii.

For this he has already confirmed that on the one hand he will be on the starting line of the IRONMAN Frankfurt this next August 15 where he will look for the Slot for Kona and on August 22 in the Grand Final of the World Series to be played in Edmonton.

Kristian is currently on second position in the World Triathlon Ranking He does not need to score in the penultimate round of the Montreal WTS and it will all be played in the Grand Final between two Olympic medalists, Blummenfet and Alex Yee.

Both triathletes will arrive in Edmonton with only one difference of 39 points, so everything will be decided in that test

With a podcast in World Triathlon the Norwegian commented on his participation in these tests.

"CI think it is more likely that the World Cup will be played between Alex and me, but I also want to win Hawaii this year.

In less than three weeks I have to get the Slot in Frankfurt, then get on a plane, stay in quarantine for three days, and then hopefully I can recover in time for Edmonton for the Grand Final.

It's going to be difficult, but I'll try. Now I did it to get back home, get on the TT bike and do some long rides ".

Winning at Kona on your debut .. difficult

Only 2 triathletes have managed to win in the IRONMAN Kona in their debut in the test.

Were Luc Van Lierde The 1996 y Chrissie Wellington in 2007. Even Jan Frodeno o Daniela Ryf, they finished second on their first attempts at The Big Island.

As for making the "double" of the Games and Hawaii, Frodeno is the only one who has doubled it Gold in the Beijing Games and winner in Kona in 2015,2016, 2019 and XNUMX.

In girls, Michellie Jones has achieved a medal in the games (silver in Sydney) and win in Kona (2006)
