Cáceres ready for the qualifier of the Spanish Triathlon Championship in Olympic distance

Everything is prepared in Cáceres to host the sixth edition of the Cáceres Ciudad Historica Triathlon, which will be held on Sunday, July 7.

This event is the only national qualifier for the Spanish Triathlon Championship at Olympic distance, which will take place in September in Banyoles.

With the participation of 300 athletes, this competition promises to be a spectacle of endurance and skill.

Distances and schedules

The tests will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the start of the open category. The elite category will start at 10:30 am.

Triathletes must complete a 1.500-meter swimming segment, a 39-kilometer cycling segment, and a 10-kilometer run.

The swimming segment will take place in the waters of the Guadiloba reservoir, in a circuit delimited by buoys where participants will do two laps before the first transition.

 The cycling sector will take athletes along the highway from Trujillo to Cáceres, where they will complete five laps on an urban circuit.

Finally, the running course will consist of three laps of an urban circuit with the finish line at Paseo de Cánovas.

Favorites

Among the elite triathletes, the names of Paula from the Well y Pelayo Gonzalez, both from the Peñota Dental Alusigma team, who will wear the first numbers in their respective categories.

In the female category, Andrea Morras of Tritones Rioja, Ana Gómez of the City of Lugo Fluvial and Esther Gómez of the Valladolid E-Triathlon complete the list of the first numbers.

In the men's category, with a waiting list, stand out Nacho González from Inforhouse Santiago, ander noain from Peñota Dental Alusigma, Miguel Guzman from the University of Alicante and David Gonzalez of the City of Lugo Fluvial.

The Cáceres Historic City Triathlon is organized by the Sports Department of the Cáceres City Council, the Extremadura Triathlon Federation and the Cáceres los Delfines Swimming Club. It is sponsored by the General Directorate of Sports of the Government of Extremadura and the Youth and Sports Foundation, as well as the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Cáceres.
