Changes to the IRONMAN Portugal 2024 cycling circuits
El IRONMAN Portugal-Cascais, which will be held next 19th October 2024, has announced changes to its cycling circuits, both for the full distance and for IRONMAN 70.3.
These modifications seek to improve the athletes' experience, offering safer and visually spectacular courses.
Cycling changes IRONMAN Portugal
The IRONMAN Portugal cycling circuit covers 180 km distributed over two laps. This year, competitors will be able to enjoy the stunning views of the Portuguese Riviera, Guincho Beach and the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
One of the highlights of the tour is the stretch along the Estrada do Guincho, which leads to Malveira and the Serra de Sintra, passing the Blue Lagoon and heading to the iconic Estoril Formula 1 Circuit.
The changes introduced will allow athletes to pedal on improved roads, ensuring a smoother and safer surface.
In addition, the tour passes by some of Lisbon's most emblematic monuments, including the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, even passing under the 25 de Abril Bridge.
With a total elevation gain of 1465 meters, this circuit promises to be as challenging as it is beautiful.
