Camila Alonso and Carolina Routier close season in the Copa Americana Premium in Santo Domingo

Two of the three best Spanish triathletes in the ITU Ranking Carolina Routier (1ª Spanish) and Camila Alonso (3ª Spanish) close their season competing in the Dominican Republic.

This November 12 will contest the CAMTRI Premium Cup of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, competition that shows the great growth of Dominican triathlon internationally. In the last two years Santo Domingo had held two editions of its international triathlon, with triumphs of Fernando Alarza both seasons and the victory last year of Camila Alonso. In that 2017 thanks to Fernando Peña, the company LED Sports and the Dominican Federation have taken another step forward with the dispute of the CAMTRI Premium Cup.

The race will be held under the sprint distance, 750m of swimming to a rectangular circuit in the marina of San Sourci. Later the triathletes will face the 20 km of cycling, a segment divided into three parts, the first with a link of 3,5 km from the T1 to the north in the av. of Spain crossing the floating bridge. Later they will give 3 turns of 5 km between the av. from the Port and the Malecón until reaching the Obelisk, and finally 1,5 km of link to the T2 that will be in the Plaza de España. Finally, the walking segment is divided into 2 turns of 2,5km to complete the 5km, all through the center of the Dominican capital to finish in the emblematic Plaza de España

In the women's competition the Canadians Dominika Jamnichy y Emy Lagault are the favorites, along with the American Sarah Alexander and the Spanish Carolina Routier y Camila Alonso They start with the numbers 2 and 6 respectively.

For his part in the men's competition the Canadian Taylor Forbes, Brazilians Willy Kauê and Matheus Diniz together with the Argentine Flavio Morandini they are the favorites to victory.

Finally we want to highlight the great participation that will be in both categories, with 49 men and 27 women. There will be 19 countries represented in Santo Domingo, a fact to be taken into account for a continental Central American cup.

Besides triathletes from Europe, South America and North America, there will be many young Central American triathletes who have competed in the Dominican Republic, the chaste of the Costa Rican Jean Carlo Monge Cascante, Mauren Solano or Raquel Solís, the Cubans Jordan Diaz, Victor Manuel Herrera, Felix Dariel Felix, Tania Rizo and Daniela Ciara or the Guatemalans Isaac Ramazzini, Bárbara and Daniela Schoenfeld, Kathia Spiergeler, Ehimiy López, as well as the locals, the Dominicans Erik and Kevin Martínez along with Camila Romero.
