Cáceres prepares to host the Spanish Duathlon Championship

Cáceres prepares to receive the Spanish Duathlon Championship on March 29 and 30, 2025.

With less than a month to go, the city is putting the finishing touches to host the best duathletes in the country. The sporting atmosphere is in full swing, and the Plaza Mayor will once again witness the spectacle, providing a unique setting for all fans.

Last year, on July 7th, the Spanish Olympic Triathlon Championship Qualifiers were held in this same city.

This experience demonstrated Cáceres' ability to transform itself into a high-level venue, suitable for important competitions. Now, the capital of Cáceres will once again host the event, and duathlon enthusiasts are counting down the days until the action begins.

A weekend full of energy

The event will be spread over two days, offering both the elite category and the age group competitions. In this way, competitors of different levels will feel supported by the local public and by those who travel specifically to see them.

Route and sporting demands

Athletes competing in the Spanish Duathlon Championship from Cáceres will have to overcome:

  • A first segment of 5 km running
  • A 20km cycling sector
  • A second 2,5 km running section

This scheme requires a balance between speed, strategy and endurance. The urban setting of Cáceres, with the Plaza Mayor as one of the nerve centres, will make each kilometre unforgettable for participants and the public.

Organization and institutional support

La Spanish Federation of Triathlon and Extremadura Triathlon Federation lead the organization of this event, which has the support of the Youth and Sport Foundation, General Directorate of Sports of the Government of Extremadura, Caceres City Hall and Diputación de CáceresThanks to this support, logistics and promotion promise to be top-notch, with a focus on the safety of athletes and sporting projection.

Positive impact on the city

The arrival of hundreds of duathletes and their companions will have a significant impact on the local economy.

Hotels, restaurants and shops eagerly await the influx of visitors, who will also be able to discover the region's heritage gems.

On the other hand, the promotion of sport and healthy habits fits in with Extremadura's commitment to continue hosting high-calibre competitions.
