Ibiza will host the 2025 MD Triathlon Spanish Championship
La Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) has confirmed that the Spain Middle Distance Triathlon Championship will return to Ibiza the next November 2 from 2025.
Con esta noticia, la isla reafirma su estatus como una de las paradas fijas en el calendario de competiciones nacionales, un lugar que combina deporte y un entorno privilegiado.
Since 2018, the Balearic island has hosted high-profile events: first the European Multisport Championship, then the Spanish Championship in 2019, the Multisport World Championship in 2023 and events of the PTO both in 2023 and 2024. Now, fans will once again be able to experience the best of Spanish triathlon in a spectacular setting.
A brief historical review of the island and its key events
Ibiza has a long history of hosting top-level competitions. Since it was chosen for continental and world events, it has been honing its organisational capacity and its sporting infrastructure.
Its favourable climate and coastal landscapes make both professional and amateur athletes value competing here for the combination of challenge and natural beauty.
Details of the circuit in Santa Eulària del Riu
The competition will take place in Saint Eulària del Riu, a municipality that has always collaborated closely with the local organization to offer quality circuits.
This year, the route will be redesigned and very attractive: a swimming section in crystal-clear waters, a cycling route with some gentle slopes and a running section that promises unforgettable scenery.
The aim is to show the essence of the island in all its splendour, taking advantage of corners that captivate both those seeking the adrenaline of competition and those who enjoy a charming tourist environment.
Towards T100 approval and the future of testing
This 2025 edition becomes relevant because the organization wants to adjust to the requirements of the T100, a label that could open the door to future editions with greater international projection.
To this end, those responsible for the T100 have been invited to experience the event in Santa Eulària del Riu first-hand.
If everything goes according to plan, Ibiza will not only consolidate its position as the epicentre of national triathlon, but will also become a benchmark for medium-distance championships with top quality standards.
Despite having already held several notable editions, the island seeks to continue surprising participants and spectators.
The combination of sporting demands, Mediterranean charm and a renovated route are ingredients that keep the enthusiasm for triathlon alive in Spain.
