Jönköping venue of the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship 2025

The Organization HOMBRE DE HIERRO, in collaboration with the Municipality of Jönköping and Destination Jönköping, has announced that the city of Jönköping, Sweden, will host the 70.3 IRONMAN 2025 European Championship.

This prestigious event will take place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, It will be one of the outstanding tests in the calendar European sports car of the coming year.

One of the best IRONMAN tests

Since 2016, Jönköping has successfully hosted the IRONMAN 70.3 Jönköping triathlon, becoming a favorite among athletes.

In 2023, the competition was voted the second best race worldwide at the IRONMAN Athletes' Choice Awards, a testament to the attractiveness and quality of the organization in this city located on the shores of Lake Vättern in southern Sweden.

Take over from Tallinn

In 2025, Jönköping will take over from Tallinn, which hosted the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship in 2023 and 2024.

The 2024 edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Jönköping, which was held on July 7, received the largest number of international athletes to date, with 38% of participants coming from abroad, compared to 26% the previous year.

In addition to Sweden, the countries with the greatest representation were the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany and Denmark, with athletes coming from as far away as South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and Ecuador.

Courses

The Championship course includes a 1.9km swimming segment in Lake Munksjön, a natural gem in the city centre.

The athletes will then embark on a journey in bike 90 km long route that passes through stunning Swedish landscapes and picturesque lakeside villages.

 The 21.1 km race segment takes place in three laps through the center of Jönköping and around Lake Munksjön, offering perfect opportunities for spectators to cheer the athletes to the finish line.
