The Long Distance Duathlon World Championship will continue in Zofingen until 2026
El Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championship will remain in the historic Swiss town of Zofingen until at least 2026, World Triathlon, Swiss Triathlon and Powerman announced.
This prestigious competition will be held on 7th September 2025 and September 6 2026.
Zofingen, known as the birthplace of long-distance duathlon, has hosted the event since 1989, and officially became the venue for the World Championships in 1997.
Stefan Ruf, President of Powerman Switzerland, expressed his enthusiasm for this new agreement: “Together we can open a new chapter in the history of long-distance duathlon. Our goal is to increase the number of participating nations in the next two years.".
Pascal salamin, President of Swiss Triathlon, also highlighted the importance of this extension: “We are delighted to see the continuation of this event in Zofingen.
Switzerland has always been recognised as the capital of long-distance duathlon, with a deep-rooted culture and passion for endurance sport.
This event fits perfectly with our vision of promoting endurance sports in our country.. "
This agreement reflects the strong commitment between the sports organisations involved to continue raising the level of duathlon globally, while maintaining the tradition of this sport in one of the most challenging and respected venues in the world.
Details on the routes and distances for the 2025 and 2026 editions will be announced shortly, but what is clear is that Zofingen will remain the epicentre of long-distance duathlon in the world.
