Catalonia and Galicia lead the provisional classification of the Spanish Triathlon Championship by Autonomies

At the end of the first day, Catalonia and Galicia lead the provisional classification of the Spanish Triathlon Championship by Autonomies.

 

After completing the competitions this Saturday, both draw with 38 points, while Castilla-La Mancha reaches third place with 32 points.

At the 17 hours began the women's competition, in which the Galician triathletes Carmen García Cortés and Sara Guerrero shone at the head of the contest after the 750 m swimming. Entries in the 20 km of the cyclist circuit, a group was joined in the front that would arrive jointly to the T2. Upon their departure, Kseniia Levkoska, Cecilia Santamaría and Camila Alonso managed to open a small gap at the front of the event. However, García Cortés excelled in the leadership after the first round of this stretch of 5 km.

A final explosive awaited in this last third, in which Camila Alonso managed to surpass her teammate to win the victory with a final time of 1: 00: 55. The second place was in the hands of Carmen García Cortés, only nine seconds behind Alonso, adding both important points for Galicia. While the Santamaría Madrid reached third place. A podium by teams that elevated the Galician team to the highest, after adding the maximum score in this first test. The second position has been for the members of Catalonia and the Madrid team has occupied the third position of the podium.

Then it was the boys' turn. A very even test in which Ander Noain, Víctor Benages, Albert Parreño, Luis Miguel Velasquez, Albert Castiñeira, Bruno Raso and Antonio Serrat they led a very level first segment. During the cycling route, the situation remained very tight, with several opponents struggling to occupy the first places. Immersed in the final 5 km race track, the Catalans Jordi García Gracia, Albert Parreño controlled the passage to the front of the test in the opening bars, with Serrat in third position, pursued by a group of rivals a few meters from the lead.

A vibrant final in which the representative of Castilla-La Mancha, Rostyslav Pevtsov got the win by stopping the clock in 53: 13, with Galician Serrat -second- crossing the finish line to 10 seconds. While Ignacio González was classified in third place, adding valuable points for Andalusia. After the sum of points, the men's podium was led by the components of Catalonia, with the members of the Galician team occupying the second place and the representatives of Castilla-La Mancha rising to the third step of the podium.

The mixed relay scheduled for today Sunday becomes decisive in determining the winners of this edition. A competition in which each team will have four participants (two girls and two boys), each of whom will perform a triathlon over a suppressprint distance (250 m of swimming, 7,2 km of cyclists and 1,8 km of running ), before handing over the baton to his teammate.
