Nearly 900 athletes will compete in the 2025 Spanish Duathlon Championship in Cáceres.

El Spanish Duathlon Championship 2025 arrives for the first time to the historic city of Cáceres, where nearly 900 athletes will gather this weekend to compete in a unique monumental setting.
The events will take place on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th, taking advantage of the beauty of the Plaza Mayor and the historic center, declared World Heritage Sites.
The Plaza Mayor of Cáceres as the nerve center
The iconic Plaza Mayor will become the main stage for the starts, transitions, and finishes in the Elite categories, with part of the route on foot traversing the most iconic streets of the old town.
The test will begin at 16:15 p.m. on Saturday. Elite Women, while at 18:30 p.m. it will be the turn of the Male Elite, both broadcast live on TeleDeporte on RTVE Play. In addition, on Sunday morning it will be time for the Paralympic Duathlon, with the participation of prominent figures in this category.
The favorites of the national elite
Among the main attractions are the defending champion, María Varo (Tri Infinity Móstoles), and the 2024 Spanish champion, Javier Martín (Marlins Triathlon Madrid).
Also on the elite list are names such as Marina Muñoz, Eva Maria Sanchez, Ana Peirats, Tania Álvarez, Miquel Angel Capó, nacho galvez, Ander Michelena o Sergio Ortiz, all of them ready to offer a great show in the streets of Cáceres.
This championship will be very emotional for local athletes with notable careers. Sonia Bejarano y Kini Carrasco, two leading figures in Extremadura and international triathlon, will compete in their last high-level competition at home. They will be recognized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) during Saturday's podium ceremony.
Challenge 300: 3 segments, one goal
As a new feature, FETRI is launching the “300 Challenge. 3 segments, one goal,” a trophy that rewards elite athletes who earn the most points by placing among the top ten in each segment of the event.
This incentive seeks to boost competitiveness in each segment (first running race, cycling race, and second running race) and will be put into play in the upcoming individual national championships.

Organized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation and the Extremadura Triathlon Federation, with support from the Youth and Sports Foundation, the General Directorate of Sports of the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Cáceres City Council, and the Cáceres Provincial Council.
An unparalleled tour in three segments
In the running segment, the duathletes will pass through iconic streets, starting and finishing in the Plaza Mayor, allowing tourists and fans to experience the atmosphere of the event firsthand. The cycling route, along avenues such as Clara Campoamor and Hernán Cortés, will involve speed and strategy before returning to the final 2,5 km run.
