Challenge Almere European Triathlon Championship LD 2025

El Challenge Almere-Amsterdam will continue to host the European Long Distance Triathlon Championships in 2025, with the possibility of extending this designation for a further three years.

This championship will attract triathletes from all over Europe, willing to compete in the long distance format: 3,8 kilometers swimming, 180 kilometers cycling and 42,2 kilometers of running race.
Consolidation of Almere as a European benchmark
The event in Almere is in the international spotlight. Its organisers, together with the European Triathlon Federation, have worked to ensure that the competition meets the highest standards.
The current plan confirms the continuity of the venue in 2025, with the option to extend it until 2028. Everything indicates that this firm approach will contribute to consolidating Almere as an unavoidable reference within the long distance.
Previous editions have seen the participation of top-level figures, who have praised the route and the atmosphere in the area.
Highest economic prize for professionals
One of the most notable news for the community is the increase in the prize money by 25%, raising it to 50.000 €.
Thanks to this improvement, the competition aims to attract an even wider range of professionals, with the added incentive of a reward in line with the level of challenge of the event.
Jeffrey Visser, director of the event, expressed his joy at the recent announcements:
“It is a great pleasure for us to reaffirm that Almere will continue to be the home of the European Long Distance Championships.
Triathlon is going through a time of change, and checking that we maintain our place in the calendar fills us with motivation. This commitment guarantees the presence of the best athletes, ready to fight for a continental title in a format that demands the most, with 3,8 km of swimming, 180 km of bike and 42,2 km of racing. We have seen some incredible races and we look forward to many more.”
For its part, Renato Bertrandi, President of Europe Triathlon, shared his views:
“We are pleased to continue our cooperation with the Challenge-Family team, the city of Almere and the Dutch Triathlon Federation.
The 2025 European Championships in Almere-Amsterdam symbolise a collaborative effort based on clear goals. We want to offer the best possible experience, both for those competing and for those who come to watch and cheer.”
Registration for Age Groups
Age Group athletes are often the protagonists at these events and, therefore, it has been confirmed that national federations will receive full information on the registration process in the coming weeks.
A greater number of participants is expected by 2025.
