Jon Wayefee and Caroline Pohle take victory in the Short at the Challenge Barcelona
The 2024 Barcelona Triathlon Challenge has reaffirmed its place as one of the most popular events in national triathlon.
Difficult weather conditions forced the cancellation of the swimming segment due to strong waves, and the event was converted into a duathlon for the 3.500 athletes.
The day began with a minute of silence in respect for all the victims of the recent catastrophic floods.

The competition was divided into several distances and disciplines: Short distance, Olympic distance, Sprint distance, Aquathlon distance and Junior Challenge distance.
Short distance
The race in the Short distance was intense, with jonathan wayaffe taking victory in the men's category with a time of 2:18:55, standing out for his ability to maintain the pace throughout the course.
In the female category, Caroline Pohle He triumphed with a time of 2:37:36, overcoming the challenges of the course and demonstrating great determination.
Olympic Distance
Alexis Lhérieau He was crowned champion of the Olympic distance with a time of 01:38:01, showing great dominance during the cycling and running stages.
On the other hand, Gemma Frigola She was the fastest among the women, crossing the finish line in 01:49:39, and making it clear why she is one of the favourites over this distance.
Sprint Distance
Mathias Perret y Alizée Kervevan They won the Sprint distance with times of 00:56:37 and 01:03:26, respectively.
Both athletes displayed extraordinary speed and responsiveness, especially during transitions, which were key to their victories.
Aquathlon
In the Aquathlon modality, Simon Koblizek e Irene Mena They took the victory with times of 00:15:20 and 00:21:48.
Junior Challenge
In the Junior category, Alberto Sebastiano y Ariadne Ivars They were the fastest, completing the course in 00:06:45 and 00:07:14 respectively.
