$100.000 in prizes at Challenge Beijing

El Challenge Beijing, the Challenge Family's latest event, will be held on September 8 in Yanqing District, Beijing, China.

This Olympic distance competition without drafting has confirmed a total prize pool of $100,000, attracting several high-level professional athletes.

In men we find triathletes like the New Zealander Kyle Smith, winner of the Championship 2024 and Challenge Wanaka, and second in the T100 San Francisco and London.

German will also be present Frederic Funk, ranked 11th in the world ranking and runner-up in the 2024 Championship.

They complete the men's poster Aaron Royle (#30, AUS), Mark Dubrick (#45, USA), and the Olympics Henri Schoemann (RSA) and Tyler Mislawchuk (DOG).

In the women's category, five athletes ranked in the top 40 in the world stand out.

The Canadian Paula Findlay, with two victories in 70.3 this year and seventh in the world ranking, will compete against Lucy byram (GBR), Amelia Watkinson (NZL) and Ellie Salthouse (AUS), ranked 12th, 13th and 14th respectively.

The short distance specialist Sian Rainsley (GBR) and Julie Derron (#35, SUI), recent winner of the Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee Challenge and silver at the Paris Olympic Games, will also be part of the event.

Awards

Prize money will be distributed as follows for the top six men and women:

1st – $20,000, 2nd – $10,000, 3rd – $8,000, 4th – $6,000, 5th – $4,000, and 6th – $2,000.

Circuits

The competition route is spectacular, located in the Beijing Horticultural Expo Park.

The swimming test will take place in the Gui River, with the T1 transition next to the Guirui Theatre, known for its colorful butterfly shape.

The cycling circuit runs through Expo Park and its surroundings, crossing the bridge over the Gui River and passing the World Grapes Expo Garden with views of the Haituo Mountains.

Transition T2 is located in front of the International Pavilion, also known as “Xuejinggong” or Snow Crystal Palace.

The race route follows the “rainbow track”, passing through iconic buildings and landscapes of the park, offering a unique experience of union between man and nature.

More than 1,000 Chinese and international amateur athletes are expected to participate, who will enjoy Chinese culture and Yanqing's Winter Olympic legacy.
