Sandefjord, an area rich in Viking history and spectacular fjords, becomes home to the latest addition to the Challenge Family franchise.
El Challenge Sandefjord the August 24st, 2024 under the medium distance format through some of Norway's most iconic landscapes.
Located just 120 km from Oslo, Sandefjord is a popular seaside town and holiday destination with a strong Viking history dating back more than 1,000 years.
The day begins with a jump into the fjord for the 1.9km single-lap swim, followed by a 90km double-lap bike ride.
This tour runs through the typical Norwegian landscape, passing the site of one of the oldest Viking ships found in Norway and up Døla Hill, filled with spectators and music.
The four-lap race takes place in the heart of the charming Scandinavian city center, through narrow streets packed with spectators, ending in the city park next to the famous Whalers' Monument.
The Norwegian Olympic medalist and multiple world champion, Kristian Blummenfelt, expressed his enthusiasm for the arrival of Challenge Sandefjord.
"I am very happy to hear that Challenge Family is coming to Norway with Challenge Sandefjord next August. It's a beautiful part of the country and I hope to support the event in any way I can. "
Olav Kyree Feld, Challenge Sandefjord race director, commented: “Bringing Challenge Family to Eastern Norway gives a large number of Norwegian triathletes the opportunity to compete in the middle distance on their home soil.
We also want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to try a triathlon, so we are organizing a short super sprint where you can test how much fun triathlon really is. "
