Last days of inscriptions for the Club La Santa Virtual Series

The deadline to sign up for the race, the first virtual that is organized in the Canary Islands, is this Thursday at 23:59 p.m.

El Club La Santa Virtual Series a is organized by Club La Santa, a hotel and sports complex located in Lanzarote.

Club La Santa is also responsible for other already mythical events of the calendar such as Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote or Lanzarote International Running Challenge.

Final sprint to enroll in the La Santa Virtual Series Club, the first telematic race organized in the Canary Islands.

The deadline to join the competition, to be held next weekend, ends this Thursday at 23:59 p.m.

At the moment, they are already registered runners from 17 different countries, who will participate in a race that has two categories for adults: 10 and 5 kilometers.

"We have been running for a long time and this initiative is a good way to train and do what we like“, pointed out some of the participants in a virtual press conference that brought together six registrants from different countries, from Germany to Colombia.

In addition, they explained the situation of the de-escalation process in each of them and praised the "great atmosphere" offered by Club La Santa and Lanzarote for the practice of sport.

For his part, Fabio Cabrera, director of the event, expressed his satisfaction at having a community of runners in so many areas and commented that “For us, the idea that runners from all over the world are going to compete separately, but at the same time together, is incredible.".

In addition, he added that these special circumstances that are going through due to the pandemic, tests such as the Virtual Series reinforce the commitment to sport as a hallmark of Club La Santa.

Runners from 17 different countries registered

So far, there are targeted representatives from the following countries: Spain, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and the United States.

Among those registered are athletes such as the Danish Kasper Laumann Hartlev, five-time winner of the Lanzarote International Running Challenge, or the also Danish Maja Stage, medalist in three European Triathlons and winner of several IRONMAN.

The competition next weekend

The competition, which has the backing of Lanzarote Tourism and Lanzarote European Sports Destination, will take place next weekend: from 08:00 on Saturday to 23:59 on Sunday.

During that strip, runners will be able to complete their careers anywhere in the world and they will be able to do it both in locations iindoors as well as outdoors, as long as the mobility restrictions in force in the countries from which they participate are respected.

At the end of the test, lRunners must upload a screenshot of the device to their participant profile with which they train, reflecting the distance completed, the time spent and the date.

The registration fee, which can be formalized through the Club La Santa website, Is $10 and includes, among other things, a personalized bib, a digital medal and the official finisher certificate.

For each distance it will be necessary to register.

30% of the proceeds will go to UNICEF

At the end of the race there will be a virtual award ceremony that will be broadcast through the Club La Santa Facebook profile and its YouTube channel.

Children under 18 years old

The children under 18 can also enjoy this competition virtual pioneer in the Canary Islands.

For participants between 12 and 17 years old, three distances have been established (3K, 5K and 8K) to which they must be registered by their parents or guardians. The quota and the dynamics of participation are similar to those of adults.

Children children under 12 can also participate in the race, but always accompanied by their parents or guardians. The registration fee for them is 5 euros and, at the end, they do not need to send a screenshot with the distance, time and date.
