42 Spanish dispute the Altafulla European Cup in Tarragona

Uxío Abuín and David Castro in men and Sara Pérez and Inés Santiago in women lead the large Spanish representation in Altafulla.

This next Sunday 2 of July will compete in Altafulla (Tarragona) Triathlon European Cup, one of the three that are played in Spain at 2017 (along with the last competition of Gran Canaria and the final in Melilla next October).

The test is also Mediterranean Championship. The competition will be held under sprint distance, 750m of swimming, followed by 20km of cycling where the triathletes will give 4 turns to a hard circuit of 5km to finish with 5km of running race.

In the men's category there will be 74 triathletes in the start list, being almost half (31) Spanish. The main favorites are Uxio Abuín y David Castro by the Spanish delegation, together with the Brazilian Danilo Pimentel, the Italian Simo De Cuyper and the German Lasse Nygaard-Priester. Also quote the Spanish Roberto Sanchez Mantecon, Jordi Garcia, Antonio Benito and Javier Lluch that shined last week in the Cto. of Spain by Autonomies and the Valencian participation Jesús Gomar competing for Georgia.

Male start list

While in the female category, 32 triathletes will be on the Salia list, with the Spanish representation being the most numerous with 11 triathletes. The main favorites are the American Summer Cook and Italian women are also candidates for the podium Ilaria Zane and the South African Anel Randford.
