Cristóbal Valenzuela and Sandra Schenkel at the XXVIII Águilas Carnival Duathlon

The Triathlon Federation of the Region of Murcia has celebrated this morning, Sunday, the 28th edition of the Duathlon Carnivals of Eagles, which has also been first qualifier for the Spanish Duathlon Championship, to be held in Avilés next April.

Christopher Valenzuela, from Saltoki Trikideak, was the winner of the men's elite event, in a fairly tight competition, with a finish time of 53 minutes and 19 seconds.

The second classified was Camilo Santiago, from the Jab Triathlon Helios, who crossed the finish line a second later (53:20). Third place on the podium went to Iván Puentes, from the Ferrol Triathlon, stopping the clock in 53 minutes and 28 seconds.

The women's competition has been even tighter than the men's, headed by the members of the Diablillos de Rivas, Sarah Schenkel and the Murcian Laura Duran, who have occupied the first and second place on the podium respectively. Schenkel has taken the victory with a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 8 seconds, while the athlete from Cehegín has made a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 9 seconds.

Matching Durán's time, Paula Lizón, from Saltoki Trikideak, has climbed to the third step of the podium.
