Challenge Roth will go Platinum in the PTO and increases prizes by 115%

DATEV Challenge Roth achieves Platinum status in the Ranking System PTO by 2025, reaffirming its position as one of the most prestigious events in the world of long-distance triathlon.

This recognition, announced by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and TEAMCHALLENGE, not only reinforces the event's reputation as the world's largest in this discipline, but also comes with a significant increase in prize money.

A Platinum Level Event: What Does It Mean?

El DATEV Challenge Roth, known as the 'Home of Triathlon', has been elevated to Platinum status within the PTO rankings system for 2025.

This recognition places Roth among the most prestigious events in the calendar international, at the height of Ironman World Championship and the T100 Triathlon World Tour.

According to the PTO CEO, Sam renoufThis designation not only celebrates the historic significance of the Roth Challenge in triathlon, but also marks a new chapter in raising the visibility of the sport and supporting elite athletes.

"TEAMCHALLENGE has been a leader in endurance sport for decades, and to see the Challenge Roth recognized as a Platinum level event in our ranking system is a major step forward for our sport,” Renouf said.

115% increase in economic prizes

With this new category, the prize money for professional triathletes has also increased significantly.

In the next edition, the DATEV Challenge Roth will distribute a total of 160.000 Euros, which represents an increase of 115% compared to the 74.500 euros of the previous year.

The winners of the male and female categories will receive 30.000 euros each, double what was awarded in the previous edition.

In addition, second place will receive 20.000 Euros (an increase of 150%) and the third 10.000 Euros. The prizes for fourth and fifth place will be 7.000 Euros y 5.000 Eurosrespectively.

Alliance for the Growth of Triathlon

The Professional Triathletes Organization and TEAMCHALLENGE have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of boosting the popularity of triathlon and improving the experience for athletes and fans.

This alliance will include the creation of the 'PTO Pro Athlete Zone' at the Challenge Roth expo next year, as well as further integration between the events of both organizations.

The collaboration will also extend to sharing operational best practices and cross-promoting their respective events, leveraging the PTO’s social media capabilities to bring the DATEV Challenge Roth to a global triathlon audience.

An Emblematic Tour

The DATEV Challenge Roth features a 3,8 km swim, 180 km bike ride and 42,2 km run.

The swim takes place on the Main-Danube Canal, where athletes enjoy a controlled environment and a dedicated audience that closely follows the competition from the edge of the canal.

The cycling section, one of the best-known on the international circuit, takes athletes through the hills of Bavaria, passing through picturesque rural landscapes and tackling iconic climbs such as 'Solar Hill', where thousands of spectators gather to cheer on the participants.

The footrace takes you through the beautiful surroundings of the canal and ends in a festive atmosphere with thousands of spectators cheering at the finish line in Roth.
