David Cantero and Lisa Tertsch win the Valencia 2024 Triathlon World Cup

The Spanish David cantero and the German Lisa Tertsch were crowned the big winners of the Valencia 2024 Triathlon World Cup, held this Saturday, September 14, at the iconic Marina Real in Valencia.

Both athletes stood out in their respective categories, winning a vibrant day full of excitement and high levels of competition.

The event, supported by the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), brought together world-class athletes, consolidating itself as one of the key events on the international calendar.

David Cantero dominates the men's category

In the male category, David cantero successfully defended his title from last year, taking victory in Valencia with a time of 49 minutes and 48 seconds.

The race began with an outstanding performance by the Spaniard Kevin Tarek Viñuela in the swimming segment, who remained in the leading group. However, it was Mason who, next to Antonio Serrat, Sergio Baxter y Hector Tolsá, led the pursuit in the cycling segment.

Spanish Championship of Paralympic Triathlon

Valencia was also the venue for the Spanish Paralympic Triathlon Championship, which had the collaboration of the insurance company Santalucía.

This event broke participation records, with more than 50 Paralympic athletes on the starting line. Among the standouts was Paris 2024 Paralympic medallist, Nil Riudavets, who took gold in the PTS4 category. Other winners included Jairo Ruiz (PTS5), Andrea Miguelez (PTS5) and Jose Cristobal Ramos (PTWC).

The tests were closely followed by the Secretary of State for Sport, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, who was present along with other authorities to support the athletes.

Mediterranean Tri Sprint and SuperSprint

Saturday also saw competitions in the Sprint and SuperSprint modalities, where Pedro Segrelles y Sara Bonillo took the victory in their respective categories.

Segrelles, with a time of 33 minutes and 57 seconds, and Bonillo, with 39:29, proved to be the fastest in a day that brought together more than 1.400 participants.

Upcoming events in the FETRI season

The FETRI season calendar does not end here. After the successful World Cup in Valencia, the triathletes have their sights set on the Ibiza T100, which will be held on September 28 and 29, and the final of the World Championship in Torremolinos-Andalusia, from October 17 to 20.

The 2024 season certainly promises great excitement for triathlon enthusiasts.
