David Castro silver at the Tongyeong World Cup

David was silver while Carolina Routier was seventh

In the early morning hours, the Tongyeong ITU Triathlon World Cupwhere a great  David Castro has achieved the silver medal in the men's event while Carolina Routier it was seventh and Tamara Gómez one-tenth

After completing the section of two swimming laps, the American Ben Kanute led the contest at the exit of T1, with the Spanish David Castro and Pablo Dapena a few seconds from the leader. The two would settle into a loose headland peloton at the beginning of the 40 km cyclists of the second sector. At the end of the first round, all the contestants circulated in a single group, with both Spaniards controlling the five laps of the route from the middle of the block.

Arriving at the last lap of the stage the two Spaniards maneuvered to position themselves facing a massive entry in the second transition. Miguel Arraiolos would be the first to leave the T2, and shortly afterwards several gaps began to open, with the Russian Dmitry Polyanskiy, Castro, Courtney Atkinson and Sarmiento taking control. Four intense turns of these last and decisive 10000.

At the end of the third lap, a fast Matthew Sharp joined the leading group, which was dwindling and took the British Sharp to the top of the podium. After him, the triathlete of La Roda demonstrated his class in the race to oie, holding on to the front group to finally conquer the silver medal to 12 seconds of Sharp. Along with both, the Australian Atkinson completed the podium in third position. 

Two Spanish in the Top-15

Pamela Oliviera led the two laps of the swimming segment, in which Carolina Routier managed to position herself in the lead a few seconds behind the Brazilian triathlete. The arduous and technical cycling segment gave way to two clear platoons, with Routier well established in the leading block of 12 contenders. For her part, Tamara Gómez established herself at the top of the chasing group, working piecemeal to iron out the differences. While Miriam Casillas, which had left the water very late, was circulating further away from the leadership.

The five laps of the sector passed without major upsets, with the leaders increasing their advantage and reaching the T2 with about two minutes of rent on their main rivals. During these 40 km, the Banyoles triathlete would consolidate in the front positions of the head squad.

After passing through the T2, they began a close 10 km final, with Yuko Takahashi and Lisa Norden at the front of the race on foot in first meters stor. The Spanish Tamara Gómez again demonstrate their great skills in the race on foot, progressing to eighth place in this first round of the stage.

Midway through the Takahashi segment, Jolanda Annen and Valentina Zapatrina appeared to be strong candidates for the podium, with Japan's Yuka sato joining the fray. Behind them, the Olympic runner-up Norden, tried to reach them. Despite being impaired by a fissure in the third toe, produced during her performance in Alanya, Gómez struggled with claw until the last moment. The woman from Elche obtained a great result to finish the season by entering 11th, offering very good feelings.

During the final stretch Routier starred in a stunning comeback, climbing positions to advance to an impressive seventh place. The bathroom showed a remarkable regularity throughout the day, blunting at the front to get the seventh place.

Victory for the Japanese Sato. Then the Swiss Annen crossed the finish line and the Japanese also Yuko Takahashi rounded the podium in third position. On the other hand, Casillas from Paraná did not have her day in South Korea after an extensive season, and was classified in 36º place.
